A short woodland walk leads to a natural meadow-land play haven where there is a picnic table, sand pit and swing, surrounded by wild flowers in a natural garden beside a tinkling stream; a tranquil and safe area for supervised children. The little River Caen flows through the farm, feeding a long established lake well stocked with coarse fish. Extending to one acre, the lake offers high quality fishing and visitors are welcome to try their skill here. Beyond the lake, the river runs through a beautiful wooded valley - acres of countryside with abundant bird, plant and wildlife, which offers splendid walks and plenty of space in which to relax.
Within a 5-mile radius are three of Devon's finest surfing beaches at Saunton Sands, Croyde Bay and Woolacombe Bay - also perfect for the simpler pleasures of swimming, sunbathing and sandcastle building. Between Little Comfort Farm and Saunton is the nature reserve at Braunton Burrows, a wilderness of sand dunes noted for its rare plants. The Tarka trail cycle way offers miles of safe track through beautiful countryside from Braunton to Petrockstowe.
Only 5 miles away are the bountiful seaside attractions of Ilfracombe with its beaches, promenade, fishing trips, seaside amusements, scuba and yacht clubs. North Devon's 'capital' Barnstaple is within 15 minutes drive - with its weekly Pannier Market, superb sport centre, and fine range of shops, restaurants and inns. There is a quality golf course at Saunton, water sports can be enjoyed all along the coast, and riding is available locally.
The surrounding countryside is dotted with little hamlets connected by narrow winding leafy lanes interconnected by public footpaths offering many opportunities for the walker or cyclist.
