COVID-19

What are we doing to make sure your cottage is COVID Safe

We are ensuring that your cottage will be cleaned and sanitised to government approved Covid Ready Guidelines from Visit England and the Professional Association of Self Caterers (PASC). These guidelines are extensive and the reason for a slightly earlier check out (9:45am or 11am if you have paid for a late check out) and later check in (5pm, or 3pm if you have paid for early check in). We have produced a risk assessment that covers all aspects of our business and this can be seen on demand.

As we cannot allow big groups to mix each morning on animal feeding, we are assigning each cottage one morning to do the complimentary mini farm experience, provided all children are able to respect social distancing or be held. Only 5 people (any age) to attend please. Your day will be written up on the chalkboard outside The Pantry. We continue to offer our ’nature discovery pick and mix’ sessions as a bookable extra. These are a great way to discover the fantastic wildlife we have on the farm, are private to your cottage and are limited to a maximum of 5 per booking. These are £48 for a 1 hour session.

The Chrysalis Spa Treatment Room is open when permitted by the government and offering the most divine massages 🙂 please see our treatment menu here – to avoid disappointment, please do let us know in advance if you would like a treatment.

The games room is currently closed. If you would like a couple of board games or puzzles in your cottage, please let us know. We have a rotation and decontamination system in place.

70 acres of organic farm, trails and the wider countryside are available for you to roam and play freely, in a socially distanced way.

Our fishing lake is open and currently complimentary for all resident guests with a fishing licence due to us having to close the games room. If you would like to hire a rod, let us know. These are loaned for the duration of your stay.

We will send you our guide to eating locally, as there will be limited capacity and booking in advance will be necessary.

On arrival your cottage will be ready and open (with keys inside). Given the very extensive deep cleans we are having to implement, we ask that you don’t arrive before 5pm (or 3pm if you have booked early check in).

A few things we need you to do to kelp us all keep COVID Safe:

Before you set off to join us at Little Comfort Farm, it’s a legal requirement that we collect some information from you relating to COVID and to assist with the government’s Track and Trace system. Please fill out this COVID health questionnaire within 24 hours of starting your journey to us. Every guest needs to fill out their own form, therefore please circulate this email to all members of your group.

If your home is in a very high risk, Tier 3 area, you must not travel to Little Comfort Farm. Please let us know as soon as you can, we will try to resell your holiday in order that we can credit some of your payments back to you.

We ask that you socially distance from other guests please, especially relevant with small children. Be rigorous in following social distancing when out in public.
Please note that any inside spaces apart from your cottage are out of bounds. This includes the games room which is closed. Please do not use the public toilets – these are for fishermen only.

If you show any signs of having the virus then you must immediately get tested either here, or immediately go back home and get tested there by contacting NHS Test & Trace. You must tell us that you have symptoms and the test result must be shown to us. If positive, you, and all those in your cottage/household/bubble will need to leave. If that is not possible and you have to self-isolate here, we regret that you will be required to pay for all bookings that have to be cancelled as a result.

It is vital that all of your group follow the prevailing Government legislation and guidance relating to COVID 19. We cannot police this and ask therefore that you risk assess your own party and decide for yourself if your group is appropriate. Should any of the social distancing legislation be breached, this will not only constitute an offence but Little Comfort could be closed down, heavily fined and/or void our insurance. In such a scenario, you would be responsible for any costs incurred that would normally be claimed on insurance. These could be very significant. Please be responsible, respect our local NHS and stick to government guidance. This can be found here.

The best way to stay safe is to regularly wash hands thoroughly and keep your distance!

Payment FAQs regarding COVID

This is a very uncertain time and we sympathise with nervousness booking accommodation when nobody knows what the future will bring. We’re doing our best to ensure you won’t be out of pocket and that we ensure you have a safe stay with us.

Here are our top tips!:

  • Follow government legislation regarding COVID;
  • Ensure you have comprehensive travel insurance (we cover lockdowns, travel insurance covers the rest);
  • Instead of travel insurance you could take out refund protection with our partners Booking Protect – this is offered as part of the booking process;
  • If you are affected by local travel restrictions and your balance is due or your arrival date is within 1 month, contact us.

What deposit is required now to secure your booking?

25% or 100% if your arrival date is within 2 months (but see below if you are in lockdown).

What if your balance is due but you're in lockdown and concerned about being able to travel?

Don't worry! Contact us about delaying your balance payment.

What if Little Comfort Farm cannot open due to National or North Devon lockdown?

We will offer you full credit for your holiday to be used towards a future booking within 1 year. If this does not work for you, we will refund you minus card processing fees. If you pay by BACS there is no fee.

What if I can’t travel because my home address, given at the time of booking,  is in lockdown (but Little Comfort Farm is open)?

Please let us know as soon as possible. We will credit your holiday for use against a future booking within 1 year.

What if I need to cancel for any other reason?

We strongly recommend that you have a comprehensive travel insurance policy. If we are open and can honour your holiday cottage booking but you need to cancel for any reason other than lockdown travel restrictions comprehensive travel insurance is important. If you do not have travel insurance, we have partnered with a refund protection company called Booking Protect and you can choose to add refund protection on to your booking during the booking process.

What if I develop COVID symptoms while staying at Little Comfort Farm?

If you show any signs of having the virus then you must immediately get tested either here, or immediately go back home and get tested there by contacting NHS. You must tell us that you have symptoms and the test result must be shown to us. If positive, you, and all those in your cottage/household/bubble will need to leave. If that is not possible and you have to self-isolate here, we regret that you will be required to pay for all bookings that have to be cancelled as a result.

What if I shouldn’t travel due to Government restrictions, but I still want to come?

You must not visit Little Comfort Farm. If any of the COVID related legislation is breached by you or your party during your stay we will ask you to leave with immediate effect and pass on any costs we may suffer as a result (which could be very significant). Please respect us, our staff and local NHS.
