Championship golf courses on your doorstep

When it comes to golf, you're spoilt for choice...

If you are looking for a golf break, Little Comfort Farm is a great place to base yourself. With the two fabulous championship courses at Saunton just ten minutes away and Royal North Devon and Ilfracombe within easy reach you really don’t need more.

Saunton Golf Club

Most golfers will have heard of Saunton and a lot will have played there needing no further encouragement. The two championship links courses are kept in excellent condition all year round. The staff are welcoming, the pro-shop is really well stocked, you can hire buggies, trolleys even clubs - and the food is good too! What more could you need. Best call to check or reserve your tee times. 20 min drive away. Get directions

Ilfracombe Golf Club

For those who enjoy great views with their golf, at Ilfracombe you can see the sea from every tee, and the views are spectacular down to the harbour and out to Lundy Island. As with many links courses the wind can be extreme so choose your day. This short but hilly golf course will test your fitness and some may prefer to hire a buggy, the course is well maintained, the pro-shop is well stocked, buggies trolleys and clubs for hire. Very good clubhouse food. 20 min drive away. Get directions

Royal North Devon

The oldest golf course in England and it is surprising that it has never blown away because the wind really can blow (but the sun can also shine) but those who like to challenge the elements this is a very special links venue, some would say a ‘must play'. Built on ‘Common Land’ sheep and horses have life memberships and you occasionally see the after effect of a sheep or horse playing a bad shot or getting over excited! It is recommended that you buy a coarse planner/yardage book because nothing is obvious to the inexperienced eye. Great reception, heaps of memorabilia, good food. 40 min drive away. Get directions

Portmore Golf Park

Close to Barnstaple this golfing venue has an 18 hole (Barum) Parkland Course and a 9 hole (Landkey) - Par 3- Course. The course is a little hilly so you may want a trolley - you can hire them. It has a reputation for being very friendly and good value for money with excellent food. Holiday golfers are welcomed. 30 min drive away. Get directions
